Abstract

The case of the court dispute between Count Anna Katherina von Swéerts-Sporck and Christina Elisabeth von Obernitz, which took place in the 1740s is used to describe the relation between a Baroque aristocrat and his or her legal counsellors, how many of these counsellors were necessary to prevail in the dispute and how. The paper describes a legal network Count and Countess Swéerts-Sporck established as well as the possible methods of legal defence.
